HALF MOON BAY RESIDENTS

We give thanks for the wonderful 21 years that we had at Half Moon Bay. Our friends here became family. How can we thank you for the great send off ? I guess by saying thank you for your warmth and caring. For the time remaining we will never forget the party and all of you. Our new address is Newport Place 4735 NW 7th Court #443. Take Hypoluxo Road west. Make a left on High Ridge, right on Newport Place and take a right again. Hope to see you all soon again. With Love, Joyce and Syd.
March has come and gone! It’s hard to believe that this season is almost over. We’ve had some good times. One was a lovely Tea hosted by Jeanette Senatore and Ester Casey at the beginning of March. Thanks to our hostesses and to those of you who contributed baked goodies. Also in March, Mel Casey staged another enjoyable audio video travel presentation. His subject was Hawaii. Lois Nigro and I hosted the first HMB Movie last month. If there is enough interest we may try to have another in the near future. The Flyaway will be Saturday April 10th with music by Steve and Angela and a potluck dessert table. Larry Balgro is host. Did you know that the music at the flyaway is paid for with the profits from the season’s BBQ’s?
Joe and Joan Maloney, JoMarie DuBois and a great group of volunteers arranged the Farewell Party for Joyce and Syd Fishman. It was well attended, and the were lots of delicious snacks. Sid, who was the original Half Moon Bay Social Committee chairperson, was given a gift. Thanks to both of the Fishmans for their contributions to the social life at HMB. We wish them well in their new home and hope they come back to visit us often.
This year’s St. Patrick’s celebration was Saturday March 20th. JoMarie DuBois and Joan Maloney were once again the chairpersons. At the last minute Joan had to go to Bangkok Thailand to welcome the Maloney’s oldest daughter’s first child. Luckily Joan’s friend Pat Kelleher was here to help with the festivities. This year TooJay’s supplied the food, and the musical entertainment was by Jody Pollard. I hope all who came to the party had a wonderful time.
Sam and Marie Matteace have retired as chief BBQ chef and helper. We thank them for their hard work over the years. It’s their turn to relax and simply enjoy HMB. Many thanks. Larry Balgro will be the interim chef. We can never replace Sam but Larry will do his best.
Attendance at the BBQ’s has been wonderful this year. We hope you’ll continue to support them. Please be patient and respectful and thank our great BBQ volunteers when you see them. Two of the BBQ’s were on Saturday instead of Sunday this year. The first was April 3rd and the Flyaway is Saturday April 10th.
Have you seen Bob Gutterson walking around the pool selling ice cream? He is just about the best ice cream salesman I know. He serves with a smile and is very accommodating. When you see him making the rounds thank him for being such a great guy!
The Bocce league is over for this season Lois Nigro and Zeke Zannino are the champions. Bob Meli hosted a luncheon for the golfer’s group.

Thanks to Gloria Pinto for her generous donation to the “Club House Beautification Committee”. Thanks also to Kevin and Crissa Hyduk for their donation to “keep Half Moon Bay a fun place”. It’s residents like the Hyduks who make HMB the “fun place” that it is!

To all of the thoughtful, generous and hardworking volunteers who helped us with our tea, thank you very much. It’s gratifying when people really do mean it when they say," How can I help?" Special thanks to Larry Balgro, Don Galloway, Don DuBois, and our husbands for all the hauling and lifting. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next tea April 6.
This year has been a busy and active year. The members of the Social Committee worked very hard to make all of our events memorable and enjoyable for everyone. It is a special group of people who spend endless hours helping in one way or another at any event, big or small. To all of these people and to the wonderful group of people who work at the Wednesday and Sunday BBQs I want to express my sincere gratitude for all of your efforts. They are dedicated and tireless, and I am very proud to know them, to work with them, and to be a part of their group.
A 1080i Hi Def Video projector and a large 7'x10' screen have been purchased in our dear friend Dan Fetters memory and presented to the Master Board for use in the clubhouse. Superbowl Night and future movie nights will be a lot bigger and better thanks to the generous people who contributed to the collection made in memory of our friend Dan Fetters.
